You are right that people remain their type, but I think the lines represent suppression of opposite energies. You can 'integrate' by relaxing the suppression. Disintegration can be a suppressed aspect leaking or bursting out.
I agree but I think that comparing those patterns to other types just confuses people, muddies what the type actually is doing, and is an unnecessary flourish (not unlike other expansions like subwings, etc.)
The lines are part of the symbol though, so i think some examination is needed unless you are going to dismiss the symbol. Talking about 'looking like' another type is confusing though
I hear what youāre saying. The ātechnicalā aspects of the Enneagram are, to me, the least interesting (although I recognize to more academic type thinkers or those interested in the history/lore thatās the most important part). This kind of stuff is redundant or frivolous if youāre desiring to actually USE the Enneagram for self-growth or as a tool to getting more of what you want in life, which is more how I use the Enneagram - like a key or decoder ring. Find it just creates too many open tabs and slows down the RAM.
